We got an email from Claire’s school announcing that they were having the 8th grade semi-formal dance this year. Claire picked out a dress and made plans to go with her friends. But then a few weeks later we got another email from the principal stating that the virtual students weren’t allowed to come. Several parents contacted her complaining about this, including me, but she would not budge.
So we made some alternative plans for the virtual kids to dress up “fancy” and meet on the Square for dinner, photos, arcade games, and ice cream. About 15 of her classmates and friends came, and Claire told us over and over again how much fun she was having.
She is now done with middle school! She’s looking forward to summer break and then starting high school.
