We stayed home this year for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

On Thanksgiving the kids watched the Macy’s parade and Charlie Brown. James made ham, turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, and rolls. I supervised and washed dishes.

On Christmas morning the kids opened their gifts. Claire got a bike, wireless earbuds, alcohol markers and sketch books, a new pink cat blanket, a Pusheen calendar and cookbook, and a giant Hershey bar. Ben got new Nintendo Switch controllers and games, Pokemon stuffed animals, a propeller hat, Robux, books, and a giant KitKat.

There was a bombing outside an AT&T data center in downtown Nashville, and it knocked out our TV and internet for 2 days. I was still able to Zoom with my family using James’ phone. In keeping with tradition, my brother Dave got me a pair of alien PJ’s.

We entertained ourselves over the weekend by drawing, crocheting, and doing lots of Legos. James got a Jordan-Hare stadium set that he worked on for days.

That night Claire discovered that our hamster Chubby was dead in his cage. She was devastated. We had him 2.5 years, which is old for a hamster. James buried him in the backyard the next day, we had a “funeral”, and Claire made a garden stone.
