Hawaii Part 1: Oahu

This year is our 25th wedding anniversary and we celebrated with a family trip to Hawaii. We spent the first few days on Oahu. The kids loved Honolulu, especially the Japanese anime stores and boba tea shops.

Ben enjoyed swimming in the Pacific ocean, even though he hated the texture of the sand.

The boys visited Pearl Harbor one morning.

And we all attended a luau at Paradise Cove. Claire was thrilled to get to hold a parrot like a baby. Ben loved watching the fire dancers.

The next day we visited the Dole Pineapple Plantation, ate lunch (fish tacos) on the North Shore, and drove around the east side of the island, passing Kualoa Ranch where Jurassic Park and Jumanji were filmed.

I also got to see my coworker Andy and his dog Orion. We’ve talked a lot on Zoom but had not yet met in person. He recommended we go up to the Tantalus Lookout which had an amazing view of Honolulu, the ocean, and Diamond Head.

I got this really cool photo of the kids sitting in the grass enjoying the view. I need to figure out how to Photoshop those other people out :-)
